  4.     I must object to Richard Ostling's skewed reference to the Rev.
  5. Carter Heyward's new book, Touching Our Strength: The Erotic as
  6. Power and the Love of God (RELIGION, Nov. 13). In quoting
  7. Heyward's work out of context, Ostling has trivialized a serious
  8. piece of theological scholarship and social analysis. Through the
  9. experiences of lesbians and gay men, Heyward addresses a society
  10. and culture that exclude and oppress many people. Her work is built
  11. on an understanding that our love of God and God's love for us are
  12. inseparable from our search for justice through loving
  13. relationships with others.
